SOHN LAB hosts successful 2nd Mini-Conference

The SOHN LAB recently held its 2nd Mini-Conference on August 6, 2024, at the DCAM RadOnc Conference Room. The event showcased cutting-edge research from various institutions and provided a platform for scientific exchange among young researchers.

Dr. Rosemary Huggins, Assistant Director for Cancer Education at the University of Chicago Comprehensive Cancer Center (UCCCC), delivered inspiring opening remarks, setting the tone for an engaging academic gathering.

Participants from multiple institutions presented their research, including:

  • Siddhant Sen (UIUC)
  • Lulu Allie (WashU)
  • Helen Qian (Cornell)
  • Amritha Praveen (Stevenson)
  • Sang Kyun Yoo (Yonsei)
  • Derrick Lee (Stevenson)
  • Ethan Stolen (UChicago)

We are proud to announce that Ethan Stolen, a 1st-year graduate program student from the SOHN LAB, secured the first place award, demonstrating the high caliber of research conducted within our program.

This mini-conference not only facilitated knowledge sharing but also strengthened collaborative ties between institutions. It provided an excellent opportunity for students to present their work, receive feedback, and network with peers and senior researchers in the field.

Events like these play a crucial role in nurturing the next generation of medical physicists and advancing our field. We look forward to seeing how the connections made and ideas shared at this conference will shape future innovations in medical physics.

Congratulations to all participants, especially to Ethan Stolen for his outstanding achievement. Special thanks to Dr. Huggins and the SOHN LAB for organizing this successful event!
