Maryellen Giger receives 2026 SPIE Gold Medal

Congratulations to Professor Maryellen Giger for receiving the 2026 SPIE Gold Medal!

Giger, the A.N. Pritzker Distinguished Service Professor of Radiology, is a recognized pioneer in the fields of computer-aided detection (CADe), and computer-aided diagnosis (CADx). 

The SPIE Gold Medal is the highest honor the Society (formerly the International Society for Optics and Photonics) bestows. 

Since 1977, it has been awarded in recognition of outstanding engineering or scientific accomplishments in optics, photonics, electro-optics, or imaging technologies or applications.
