GPMP students published paper in the Journal of Medical Imaging

GPMP students Gia Jadick and Geneva Schlafly, from La Rivière Lab, just published a new paper in the Journal of Medical Imaging (JMI)!

Their latest paper in JMI assesses the potential advantages of “MV-kV” dual-energy CT imaging: utilizing MV and kV spectra jointly to improve image quality through material decomposition and synthesis of virtual monoenergetic images.

In simulated CT images of the pelvis, they find that MV-kV can be used for metal artifact correction and can improve the native contrast of images. More advanced denoising is generally necessary for MV-kV to improve contrast-to-noise ratio in the absence of metal.
