GPMP graduate student Ethan Stolen and his advisor, Assistant Professor James Sohn, have achieved remarkable recognition with three abstracts selected for presentation at the prestigious 2025 Congress of the European Society for Radiotherapy and Oncology (ESTRO) in Vienna, Austria. Ethan will represent their groundbreaking research at this international conference in May 2025.

Their work has received exceptional acclaim, with their research on a machine learning-based quality assurance (QA) tool for proton therapy earning an invitation for presentation. This innovative tool compares deviations in proton therapy spot positions recorded in machine log files against treatment plans, offering significant potential for improving treatment accuracy.

In recognition of the outstanding quality of their research, this abstract was ranked among the highest-scoring submissions and has been invited for publication as a full paper in the respected journal Physics and Imaging in Radiation Oncology (phiRO).

This achievement highlights the cutting-edge research being conducted within our department and demonstrates our program's continuing impact in the field of medical physics and radiation oncology.
