Gia Jadick's paper featured on the cover of Journal of Medical Imaging

The paper "Dual-energy computed tomography imaging with megavoltage and kilovoltage X-ray spectra"* authored by GPMP students Gia Jadick and Geneva Schlafly, from La Rivière Lab, was featured on the cover of the Journal of Medical Imaging (JMI)!

Their latest paper in JMI assesses the potential advantages of “MV-kV” dual-energy CT imaging: utilizing MV and kV spectra jointly to improve image quality through material decomposition and synthesis of virtual monoenergetic images.

In simulated CT images of the pelvis, they find that MV-kV can be used for metal artifact correction and can improve the native contrast of images. More advanced denoising is generally necessary for MV-kV to improve contrast-to-noise ratio in the absence of metal.
